MARCH WITH ME 2020
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS MARCH WITH ME?
March With Me is the annual major fundraising event for Love Me Love You. The event brings together people from all walks of life, with one common goal, "To Stand Up and Make a Difference" in the awareness and education of Mental Health.
With distances from the 5km Family Walk to the 45km challenge to choose from, participants gather their crew and walk together, sharing conversation, connecting to others to show their support for their community and the foundation. It is not a race, it's not a personal event, it's a community of people getting together, sharing a challenge, sharing an experience, all in the name of Mental Health awareness.
HOW DID MARCH WITH ME START?
In 2014 Lance Picioane, the founder and CEO of Love Me Love You, launch the foundation with a walk from Sydney to Melbourne. A gruelling 16 days on the road and nearly 1000 kilometres, Lance beat the odds of past injuries to make the grueling trek. Supported by a small crew each step of the way, Lance launched the foundation with the mantra "No one travels their journey alone". Since 2014 March with Me has run each year, growing exponentially every year. Over the years the event included a 4-day around the bay trek, a 2-day Portsea to Port Melbourne challenge, and in recent times a 60km trek from Maribyrnong to Brighton and return. This years City to Coast trek introduces some shorter distances to the program catering for greater inclusion for all levels of fitness.
WHY IS THIS EVENT RUN?
Love Me Love You is a not for profit organisation providing interactive and engaging programs that challenge the views and stigmas surrounding mental health. Love Me Love You lays the foundation of self care so that we are all able to make a contribution to our community. Together we need to embrace the challenge, engage in the support and empower the opportunity to make a difference! At Love Me Love You all our programs are provided to Schools, Community groups and Sporting Clubs free of charge, as a Give Back initiative from fundraising at events such as March with Me. Without participation and fundraising at this event, we would be unable to provide the level of programs and resources that we do to schools, sporting clubs and community groups that we do today. With over 10,000 experiences delivered in 2019, we are on target to provide 50,000 in 2020.

A first for March with Me, this year will see the inclusion of an event village. With Children's Activities, Health & Wellness Stalls, Food Stalls, Live Music and more, the event village will be the hub for the event and finishing line party. Invite your family and friends down to see you off at the starting line, and be there to congratulate you as you finish, and whilst they wait they can enjoy the activities & atmosphere of the March with Me event village. The activities will kick off at 2pm and run until 5pm.
IS THERE A SET TIME I NEED TO COMPLETE IT IN?
The event is not a race, it's about getting out there, sharing conversation and experiences. In past years, there has never been a walker too slow that couldn't complete the course.
HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
Your fitness level is up to you, however we do recommend that you be able to do the distance you are registered for in no more than 2 walks on consecutive days. For example if you are doing the 45km walk, you would be aiming to ensure your training includes a 30km walk one day and 15kms the next. This should have you in good stead for completing the course.
WHAT IF I CAN’T/DON’T FINISH?
The Love Me Love You mantra is "No one travels their journey alone". If you are injured, or unable to complete the course for any reason you will be collected by the event support crew vehicles and returned to the event village.
WHAT PACE WILL THE WALK BE AT?
Whilst everyone is entitled to walk at their own pace, past events have shown that typically the majority of walkers walk at around 8-10min kilometers. It is about doing this together, there will be a lead and tail walker from the Love Me Love You team that will ensure everyone is supported and no one is left behind.
WHAT IS AVAILABLE ON COURSE?
There are aid stations across the 15km, 30km and 45km distances where there will be water (to fill your own bottle), public toilets and snacks, along with first aid. As the course is on public footpaths there will be March With Me event Marshalls at key crossing points. The lunch stop for the 45km and 30km walkers also includes Allied Health Professional Services, including massage. We also encourage you to carry a small backpack on the walk with your own supplies and hydration needs.
How do I check in?
When you arrive at your starting location, proceed to the registration marquee to check in. The registration team will provide you with an event guide that includes a course map.
WHEN WILL I GET MY EVENT T-SHIRT?
For those that either registered for the 45km/30km and receive a free t-shirt or those that purchased it as a part of their registration, these will be mailed to you closer to the event. We will have a confirmed date for you soon, but you can expect it around 7-10 days before the event.
Where can I park?
We recommend taking public transport to and from the event however there is public parking in and around the Botanic Gardens. If driving please ensure you arrive with plenty of time as parking nearby cannot be guaranteed.
If participating in the 15km event starting at Brighton there is limited public parking available at the start line so recommend taking public transport.
What is the best way to get there by public transport?
Please use the following website to plan how to get to Toms Block (start & finish) and the 15km distance start at Brighton.

DO WE HAVE TO FUND RAISE?
This year fundraising is optional, however we encourage you to share your fundraising page with your family, friends and colleagues. You would be surprised how quickly a few hundred dollars can be raised. It only takes $25 to fund an individual to participate in a Love Me Love You program session and $500 will help us provide a sporting club or school to participate in a Lifetime of Wellbeing session
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the team at firstname.lastname@example.org
